OK, the demo was too crippled for me to remotely evaluate, so, largely on faith, I bought it.. The program seems to do what I'm looking for which, in part, involves splitting up sound files for bi-amping without using an electronic crossover. However, I'm puzzled by this: my test file is a recording of a 32' organ pipe playing a frequency of 16 Hz. In the original file there appears to be an obnoxious sympathetic vibration caused by something loose in the building. However, that sound, clearly there when played in Sound Forge, isn't audible in the SpecraLayers project file that is based on that same file...and I haven't done a thing to remove it. When I render the file in SpectraLayers and then play it in SF, that sound is there. I'm confused. Also, I note that the rendered files are very slightly larger than the original wave files. Is this a result of a default setting of some sort? It appears that there is an extra tenth of a second or so of silence at the end of the file that is inserted by SpectraLayers. Ha! Figured out the mystery of the rattle - tired headphones. Oh well! However, SL is still adding silence onto the end of rendered files, unfortunately. |
