I have purchased the software based on the description of what it does and my faith in the programmers at Sonic Foundry and now Sony. This is, without doubt, just as revolutionary as my 1989 leap from editing with a razor blade to Turtle Beach's Soundstage running on a 286 computer. In fact, more so because never before has there been a way to deal with the frequency domain including its harmonics except by filtering which is actually a function of amplitude and frequency ranges. In other words, it affects everything. And if the frequency changes the filter has to be re-centered. There is no way, even in software, to make the skirts steep enough to not affect surrounding material. And then there is group delay and phase shift to deal with and on and on it goes. It will require a whole new way of thinking on my part and thus quite a learning curve. But, over the years, I've faced a multitude of challenges I couldn't meet because there were no tools to do so. I find this totally astounding! I just removed some noise from a file that Izotope RX2 Advanced was unable to do without affecting the program material. And, RX2 just reduced the noise not eliminate it. My hat's off to Sony programmers! Wish I owned some stock! |
