If your are referring to 'Full Scale Peak' meters, they are.. well.. full scale, with 0.0dB being the absolute loudest. anything over that is clipped. (distorted) For example, a 0VU reference tone indicating a +4dBu output level would correspond to -20dB AES or -18dB EBU on a Full Scale peak meter. Many years ago, when DAT recorders first reared their ugly rotary heads, many old school folk used to refer to this as "Digital Zero". |

Thanks, I was wondering what the "peak range" meant in Sound Forge 10 and other versions. There never seems to be what the listed values in the drop down mean.. sparrow in chicago |

Peak Range refers to how you see the lower (quieter) signals. It is only to set the range you see, and setting does not affect anything else. Message last edited on7/19/2012 5:25:11 PM byChristoC. |

The meter's range/resolution is adjustable also. |
