Subject:Problem with Read Only Audio Files

For some reason when I'm opening some of my audio files in SoundForge, they're now showing as being Read Only files and I can't edit them. How can I change this so that I can edit all of my files in SoundForge?

When I open the files, sometimes at the bottom in gray the entire file is showing as being "Track 1" also.

I'm running on SoundForge version 10.

Thanks.

Jim

Right-click on the file and set the attributes in Windows.

Thanks. You just helped me to solve the problem. What was happening was when I was selecting the file to open, somehow the default for opening all audio files in that window got changed to opening all of them as "Read Only". Once I unchecked that box, all is fine now

Often happens with folders or archives that are brought in from an outside source. XP was particularly bad about this

Also, most any file ripped or copied from CD or DVD will end up as read-only on the hard drive too.
