Replacing songs in windows layout -Sound Forge - PC

Subject:Replacing songs in windows layout Posted by: kdrusso Date:7/16/2012 2:04:22 PM I have Sound Forge Audio Studio V 10. I am new in using this program also. I put 12 songs into a layout, burned a CD and I need to replace a few songs. I tried deleting song #3 in the layout to replace it with the new song but the program moves song #4 into it's slot. I also tried just overwriting the old song but it mixes the two together, plus in the EDIT menu, while it offers PASTE SPECIAL/OVERWRITE, it was grayed out so I couldn't select it. I have looked in the HELP section on replacing songs, but it only addresses mixes, not actually replacing a song in the same slot in the layout. Is there a way to do this? Thanks for any help, Kathy

Once you deleted it, you should be able to do a simple Paste of the new one with the cursor still at the right spot and it will be inserted. You'll have to recreate the track region for the newly inserted song.

Deleting it seemed to delete the space for it while leaving #3/#3 on the line. Either side of which is the 7 seconds of silence after song #2 and before #4. I'm getting closer, but no luck yet. I am pulling the song from the bottom of the page into the layout, that might be the problem, however, I cannot access a PASTE feature in the EDIT menu or by right clicking.

I had to add the song to the end of the track so I could COPY it, I deleted the original, then pasted the new song into it's place. I will now delete the song at the end. Thanks for your help. Probably opening it in another Sound Forge window would be a little more sensible. You could copy it from that other window, then paste it into your main project.
