Subject:playback delay with sf10 and windows 7

I have been using sf10 since its release on a Vista machine with no problems. I have recently installed it on a new Windows 7 64bit machine w an i7-3820 processor, 12 gigs of ram. now when I hit the space or enter bar or click on the play button, it takes about 5 seconds for it to play??!! I edit fast and this drives me CRAZY!! Any thoughts on fixing this? Note, I have tried changing the space bar from play/stop to play/pause and it happens both ways.

And the sound card you are using is . . .??
Go to SF Preferences, and select the fastest driver (ASIO).

When I've had playback delays, adjusting the 'Playback buffer' under "Options> Preferences> Audio" fixed it... However, I've never experienced a PB delay of five seconds, so that may not be the problem.

i am using a presonus firestudio project. using asio drivers.

when you adjust the buffer, do you go up or down?
