You, are an idiot!!!
I tried reasoning with you on your last string, but obviously the truth was too painful, so you started this string.
You want PROOF you're an idiot... You come to an ENGLISH forum, and you think posting in two other languages will get you better results!
Si tu prefere, je peut te repondre en FRANCAIS!! Va te faire fou...

Sorry SF, I know you try to keep this forum civilized, but this person is too much!

Like I said before, you are registered for Acid 2.0 and Acid 3.0, and we have both of your serial numbers on file. All you have to do is e-mail customerservice@sonicfoundry.com and we will give the numbers to you. You can also call 1-800-577-6642 if that is an option to you. Please do not post messages here asking for serial numbers again.

Ted, the thing is he has a serial number for MUSIC 2.0 and he wants a serial number for PRO 2.0, which he didn't pay for.

Later.

He has bought and paid for Acid Pro 3.0 and we will give him his serial number if he contacts us. So I guess I don't understand the need for Acid Pro 2.0.

Ted,

I'd like to have a key for Pro 2.0 because I can't install Pro 3.0 on my laptop (Win95) and I can't upgrade this laptop to Win98 or more. That's all.
Acid Pro 2.0 has less features than Pro 3.0, thus I'm not asking for a "free" product, but just for a solution.

I'm really thinking that my request has sense and I'm very sincere. All I need is an activation key for THAT computer only and no more. You could think that I'm going to resell that computer with Pro 2.0 - believe me, it's not the case. It's for a limited time only; when I buy another laptop, I will install Pro 3.0 of course.

I never said I wanted a serial number for free, I just asked users to contact me if they don't use Pro 2.0 anymore. Perhaps we can make a deal.

Ok, I won't bother you with that problem.
Thanks for your replies.

He says Acid Pro 3.0 won't run on his Windows 95 (his laptop). Pro 2.0 works on 95 (I guess) so he wants to upgrade his Music 2.0 to Pro 2.0 via a freebie.
As I tried to explain to him, just because he purchased two programs from SF, doesn't entitle him to a free key for a superior program.
What it boils down to is he wants Pro 2.0 for his laptop, and Pro 3.0 for his desktop.
As I said before, people who paid extra for Pro 2.0 instead of Music 2.0 would be pretty upset to find out SF was now GIVING away activation keys for Pro 2.0 since 3.0 is now being sold.

You can't reason with an unreasonable person.

Later.

Dude, who cares? It's an old program. SF can't make any money off it anyway anymore. Give the guy a break. Some people are so uptight (rolls eyes)

Uptight (people who know me, know I'm not) has nothing to do with it.
I'm just saying that even though his situation is VERY unfortunate, SF's response is his wanting a free serial number to a product he didn't purchase is understandable.

MyST: i think you're not understanding the situation entirely.

1) Sonic Foundry does allow you to install and register a software license
on more than one computer, as long as they are for your own use. I have
SoundForge XP installed both on my office computer and my home
computer.

2) Djipy has a license for Acid Pro 3.0, and is therefore allowed to use it
on both his desktop system and his laptop.

3) 3.0 won't install on his laptop, so he's asking for permission to
downgrade! (How many users do you see ask that?) So in effect, he will
be using 3.0 and less than 3.0 on the two computers he's allowed to use
it on. He is offering to give up his Music 2.0 license (which he's already
paid for) in exchange for something that he can receive for free.

4) Sonic Foundry replied in this forum thread that they would be willing
to do that for him if he will contact their licensing department via eMail
or phone. Obviously they don't have a problem with it.

It would appear the only problem is his reluctance to contact SF's licensing
department in the manner they request. Why? I have no clue on that one.

Kelly,

Thanks for your reply.
You have understood the problem and summarized it very well.
I'd like to point out that I already e-mailed SF customer service twice but I've got no answer until now.

See you later.

Kelly, I also have Acid set-up on my home and work computer, with SF's blessing.
From what I can see, SF won't give him a serial number for a product he didn't purchase.
He bought Music 2.0, and Pro 3.0, but he wants to run Pro 2.0 and Pro 3.0.
I can see there point, THAT IS ALL.
Has he offered to pay the difference between Music and Pro?

I have Acid Rock 2.0 and Acid Pro 3.0. Acid 2.0 is on my work computer and 3.0 at home.
SF, could you give me a serial number so I can run Pro 2.0 at my work?
It just isn't fair for people who paid more money for Pro 2.0 at the time. I bought Rock 2.0 because I couldn't afford Pro 2.0. I accepted the fewer features, but I'm not going to ask SF to GIVE me Pro 2.0. I have to deal with the fact that I have Rock 2.0 and Pro 3.0, therefore Rock is pretty much useless now.

I'm done here.

Less features, cheaper price.
See the family comparison of Acid 3.0 products, same applies to 2.0.

Quick comparison chart for the various flavors of Acid 3.0:

http://www.sonicfoundry.com/products/NewShowProduct.asp?PID=511&FeatureID=4519

This chart lists XPress, Techno/DJ, Music, and PRO. I don't see Rock
listed though. Basically as you move up the scale you get more features
for more money. XPress is free, and even though it's quite limited, it
was enough to play with to convince me to buy PRO.

You don't see Rock listed because it was a 2.0 version.
Actually, they were all Acid "Style" (opening screen in Acid) with different loop genre CDs.
Mine was Acid Style with Rock loop CD.
As mentioned, yes the less-featured Acid also made he hungry for more features offered in Pro 3.0. So , I bought that also. I accept the fact that my 2.0 is basically a coaster now.
I'm not out here asking SF to GIVE me a serial number for Pro 2.0, since it is discuntinued and I bought Pro 3.0.
