Oh, be quiet already about this. Talk about "Yawn!" This post is a big one.

Big f---ing deal about those other programs. Yeah, they're great. So what? If you love them so much, why waste your time at the Acid Pro forum?

This topic has been done to death. Any flaming replies to my message will be nothing but repeats of what's been said in other threads.

Yawn indeed.

Studio One is a nice app that doesn't demand a high learning curve to get started.

Before one starts beating their chest, if you have Studio one be sure to install both 32, 64 bit versions since they still haven't managed to bridge 32, 64 bit plugins which is available in Sonar, Reaper and now FL Studio. Amazing how many plugins are still 32 bit and you have to open Studio One x 32 to use them.

It's still a nice app and I have it but those are the major drawbacks.

There is an inexpensive utility called jbridge that lets you use 32bit plugins in any 64bit application:

Problem solved. Besides,at least Studio One is still being developed and hasn't been abandoned or discontinued like ACID.

Studio One is just getting started. Tis an exciting time ahead. Unlike here - for example.

Yes. Unfortunately it is sad over here at sonycreativesoftware.com
I keep checking these forums daily and the website to see if anything changes here with regards to Acid Pro, and alas... I hear...Silence...
Gotta say, I am very glad I own Studio One 2 Pro. Just was updated to version 2.0.6.
I am still asking for an updated version of Acid Pro with 64 bit os compatibility and upgrading ram privileges... But I like others am starting to lose hope.
The stillness over here is making me sleepy.

I had an interesting night last night doing an A/B comparison of Acid Pro 7 and Presonus Studio One 2. One thing in Acid Pro that I have always struggled with was recording bass sounds. I don't have a multi dollar budget setup, just a m-audio 2496 card, a behringer 16 channel board, running my stingray through my Bass Pod Pro rack mount. I always felt that my bass ended up recording and printing not as I heard it in my monitors. I do have a very reliable pair of Event ASP8 monitors. So i A/B'd these two programs, and hands down, Studio One 2 recorded my bass more accurate with respect to how it sounded in the monitors. The only way I can describe recording my bass in Acid was toy like sounding. And my goodness the compression plugin in Studio One 2 is pretty amazing.
Just some food for thought SonyCreativeSoftware. If there's going to be an Acid Pro 8 - it needs to be great and needs to sound amazing.

@ 519tbarr
i record bass "direct" through a presonus bluetube to an m-audio 2496 and it sounds awesome. i'm curious if youve tried bypassing the pod. i also have the ik ampeg plugin and use it nearly exclusively. but obtaining a quality recording is my goal before applying it.
based on your experience i would be interested to hear the s1 compression though.

Honestly I have not tried bypassing the pod pro.
I have considered it recently. I do have a radial direct passive Di that is pretty killer.
I should give that a shot and then work on the effect.
I also just got the update to overlouds mark studio 2 bass plug in. Gotta say overloud plugins are pretty killer.
Ive got a focusrite liquid channel on layaway right now. I will have to update u when I get that home and have had time to run my stingray through that.

Recording as Loop or Beatmapped and changing the tempo post recording? Recording as One shot is the only ACIDized form of audio that ACID does not time stretch (or key stretch for that matter).

I have zero issues recording guitar. Sounds just like it does in ACID recorded as monitored through my setup live.

always recording as one shots.
Just a straight wave.
I have a simple setup with a 2496 sound card m-audio only one way to set it up through the preferences window within ACID.
My weak point is my behringer mix board. Long term i'd love to get a UA apollo quad input source.
I don't know why it sounds different, just does. I haven't tried my DI box recently and I should do that test just to be fair.

There must be some logical explanation for this. Acid records the linear PCM directly from the interface/driver, exactly the same as any other app - bit for bit. And plays it back the same if no alterations made. If alterations are made (even just level) there should be no discernable deterioration in actual sound quality.

Have you some plugin (or preset) in your default setting that is mucking things up ?

Or are you perceiving a mere difference in level as a quality issue - minutely louder often sounds 'better' than the same sound a fraction of a dB quieter.
