Add New CD-RW's/CD-R's to CDA

I find it hard to believe a company would charge so much for a piece of software and not support it. Yes, Sonic Foundry doesn't sell the software anymore, but it would seem to be a simple thing to add recordable CD-ROM's to CDA's compatability list. I'm EXTREMELY dissapointed with this company in that respect.

I've read the post on getting a HEX editor and "adding" your hardware to CDA's list, but as it is stated you probably will lose the speed capability present today.

Sonic Foundry, why won't you help us continue to use your software? You have effectively asked us to discontinue it's use by not making information available to us that would enable us to update the software to reflect today's hardware. You have effectively caused us to throw our money down the drain by not allowing current hardware to work with your software.

I have a Plextor 8/20 that died. Now I have to try to find another Plextor 8/20 because your software won't work with anything current that Plextor sells. Does anyone make an 8/20 anymore? Nope. So I have to get something refurbished or used.

Please, do one of the following two things, or both:

1. Post an update that will allow CDA to work with today's CD-ROM hardware. I'm sure you have plenty of information on this as you are producing software that apparently will work with today's hardware. Just take what you know and have applied with recent versions of Sound Forge or Vegas or whatever you make that burns CD's and apply it to CDA. I'm sure someone around there would know how to do this.

2. Post information that will allow us to manually do this ourselves.

I know something similar to this has been posted before, but it bears repeating. We've been given the shaft and people who might purchase your products need to know about it.

Please show us that you stand behind your products, both past and present.

1) Most high-speed CDRW drives work quite well with CDA if you simply choose "ATAPI MMC Compatible". If they don't, it's mostly the drives fault for not being MMC compatible.

2) Vegas 3.0 is the new CD Architect. The new version supports all modern drives.

The previous message is incorrect. Vegas 3 does not fully support the Plextor 16/10/40 IDE drive. It can only burn at 6X. I am waiting for an upgrade from Sonic Foundry.
