Titles Do NOT Overlay

GabeSolomon wrote on 5/11/2012, 12:03 PM
I have an edited video on a Vegas timeline. Vegas Pro 11. I went to media generators and selected a Text icon.
I entered the text and placed it on the timeline in a new track. In the edit media generator box, I was able to enter the text, however, the text does not show on the vegas output monitor, What am i doing wrong.

This is probably too simple, but be sure the text track is the top track.

Text has transparent background?

yes it is on the top track

I am using the default track, so I am guessing that the background is transparent

The transparent text presets are the ones with a checkerboard background.

Can you post a screenshot of your Vegas timeline layout showing the tracks, track headers, preview window, and the cursor inside the text event? Bonus if you can also include the media generator window open on the screen.

Hi. A couple of thoughts & apologies in advance but we don't have a lot of info to work with to help you. So:
Have you previously successfully added text to a Vegas project.?
Are you using the simple "legacy" text generator or one of the other text generators within Vegas (currently there are 4 & they are substantially different .
Any possibility that you have your text track hidden/muted in the header.
Any chance you have inserted your text overlay in another part of your timeline , such as past the end of the rest of your project.
If you're new to Vegas, have you watched any of the videos on this site or YouTube about text generators in Vegas or used the help function in Vegas.

It would appear unlikely that your experience is related to a glitch inVegas as it has not been previously reported (afaik) and many people place text overlays in projects frequently using such tools within Vegas.

Hope something helps

The short answer is to use the following syntax to post an image: [img=http://dl.dropbox.com/u/20447760/Jazzy4.jpg]

The longer, better answer is in the sticky

The best answer is:

You can use the windows Snipping Tool instead of SnagIt & the web service of you choice instead of the free Dropbox service.

Gave, just re-reading your post & apologies if this is all too obvious, but just checking that you have your cursor on that part of the timline where the top title track is overlaying the other tracks below? In other words, when you say the text is not showing up in your monitor, are you referring to when you drag the generated text media to the timeline , while editing the text or are you referring to the text not showing up when you preview or render the video? One last thing, I'm assuming you have not adjusted text or track transparency & inadvertently made it completely transparent?

Hope Gabe figured it out. Right now using the latest Vegas I'm not able to see my text with it as the top track. It worked on another video before I updated to the latest update. Tried to quit and restart and I don't see text being rendered. Hopefully not a bug but certainly odd.
