Subject:SF 5 XP CD Extract doesn't support Digital Playback?

I just tried to use the CD audio extract feature of SF 5 XP and was surprised to find that the play function does not work with my Sony CD using digital playback mode. I am using an M-Audio AP 2496 card under Win2K which doesn't have an internal CD in connector. I have enabled digital playback in Win2k's device properties. The funny thing is, SF Siren 2.0 does support digital playback of CDs and works fine with my setup. I don't understand the inconsistency across product lines? Can this be fixed with an update? Thanks. -CB |

I'm using an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 via S/PDIF out under "Options>Preferences>Wave" on the menu bar. I don't have a problem at all. I just ripped the main theme to Band of Brothers right from CD right into SF XP 5.0e. What are your settings? Iacobus |

I am not sure we are talking about the same thing. I'm not trying to play the CD via the AP's SPDIF out. I'm talking about the feature where you can choose to read the CD's content digital and playback directly off of the disc as in contrast to playing through a soundcard. If you look in the properties of a CD player in the W2K hardware display you will see the option of playing CDs digitally via this technique. Siren and Feurio (CD burner) can do it. For some reason Sound Forge can't? -CB |
