Ummmmm, not really. Sorry. However, that being said, there is one technique i've used that sometimes sorta works in a few cases. The file has to be stereo, and the vocal you want to remove has to be mostly equal in both channels. - open the file in Sound Forge. - select one of the channels (doesn't matter which one) by: - - - zoom out all the way to show the entire file on the screen - - - place the cursor after the end of the file above the center of the left channel - - - click and drag the cursor back to the beginning of the file; only the left will be selected - under Process choose Invert/Flip - Save As the file to a new .wav file, setting the attributes to Mono - open the new file. You may need to futz around with the volume level of one channel or the other to get it just right. Experiment. What this process does is take anything that is identical in both channels and cancels it out, leaving only what was different between the two. This works for a lot of pop music because the lead vocal is often placed dead center and most everything else is panned left or right. Unfortunately, most of the background vocals will remain, and it will substantially alter a lot of the instrumentals too. But give it a shot; it might be good enough for what you want. |
