Hello, I am an Acid 6 user, evaluating the Acid Pro 7 program now in my new Windows 7 machine with 16 GB RAM, and 8 Core, 2 TB HD. 1) I am having a problem with running with long wave files for a demo mix to see it in action. In the beginning I used some plugins but it made the program crash. I read the if you're using 32 bit soft synths it causes problems, so I removed them all. But I still get the crashes after looping for a while. I really like the product and want to license it but I am not sure about if it is capable of running on an 8 core device. I also use SonarL, Cubase and Line6 software that seem to run fairly well. 2) I also experienced issues with my EMU sound card. When I load Acid, sometimes it just does not sound. I have to switch to Windows Mapper, then back to EMU to make it work, and sometimes it just works right off the4 bat on the same project. Any guidance would be great, thanks. |

Hey there! I think in 2012 there are a number of us having problems with compatibility using Acid Pro 7 on 64 bit windows 7 machines. Im speaking for myself. What kind of problem are you having with the wave files that are long? Are you not able to view the wave file? Does you system take a while to respond when scrolling into the wave (I am having that problem) do you find it stuttering? I also have problems with plugin's crashing. I have a few different plugins that i run, Overloud Breverb 2, Mark Studio (Bass Amp Simulator), Izotope Nectar & Ozone 5 - I've run into issues where the plugin screen goes black and then the program crashes. It's glorious. Mind you I'm running an insane number of tracks but still... Im assuming you have updated your emu driver to the most current driver for your computer... Thanks so much for the reply. I am an Acid Pro lover. My version 6 works well in the WIn7 environment but Acid 7 has more features and you can actually use it to record a whole album. Now, on the "1)" problem is that I can have many tracks that I processed in SoundForge at 48k - 16/24/32 bit (FX, edits, cleaning, etc). The wave files can last4 or 5 minutes depending on the song. Loops great for a while as you make edits and process the mix. But at any given point, on inconsistent actions, it just crashes. The details are greek to me but I mentions that there is an exception with an "access violation" then it gives a stcak dump. I noticed that once I got rid of all plugins and some softsynths it worked bteer, but at some point it gives up. On number 2), I have the very latest 64 bit driver from EMU. Creative has been really helpful about that. Oh yes, I went ahead and install the demo version of Acid 7 in my old Windows XP PC and it works like a champ, with plugins, softsynths and stuff. Maybe the software does not like the Win7 memory administration and having affinity core assignments. Since the app is 32-bit (as I am learning now) it just abends when it reaches an amount of memory use, whereas on a 32-bit machine, processing and memory will work with their swap file. For example, my WIn 7 station has 16 GB of RAM maybe Acid cannot manage that well in the 64bit environment. Is anyone experiencing about the same problems? I would really want to purchase the license. But if there is no fix, then... |

All i can say to you is this... I love Acid Pro as well. It is however being problematic on 64 bit platforms. I recently purchased the program back in February. It's the platform I'm most comfortable in. However, there has been no update or development to show on Acid Pro since early 2010. There has been no reason, and no comment from Sony as far as anyone knows or has commented to the status of development of the program or future development of the software. Peter H - who works for Sony Creative has chimed in and said Acid has a future. Until we see either a 64 bit update or a new version of Acid Pro (and yes i always use Acid Pro as my line - because Acid Music Studio doesn't matter to any of us here) then his is what we have. I can understand your hesitancy to purchase the program not knowing if it will receive an update. Peter - Sony Creative Software... Take note of this. I wonder why a company so big as SONY would not put efforts into such an important piece of software. Abbleton Live 8 latest version is still a 32bit but handles the 64bit envirenment well, for what I am reading. It now has sequencing and looping as well. Maybe something to try next. Being able to work on a 64bit environment, taking advanatage of more than 2 cores and all the memory in the world with the capabilities Acid has would just be leveled with the MAC and Protools modules. It does not take a lot of engineering to achive this since the GUI could be entirely the same. It would just be the innerworking of the app to use better resources. Since I am new to this forum, I guess I am not quite understanding the abandoment. Maybe SONY is not making enough money with this to take it to the next level. |

OK, that rings a bell - thought is was just me, but I have have Acid spontaneously revert to Microsoft Sound Mapper (from MOTU 424) in a new session on several occasions. My system #2 . geoff Message last edited on4/30/2012 11:58:27 PM byGeoff_Wood. |

Guys, I was able to at least have some progress in my evaluation. If you're ready to load a project with large WAV files, say tracks you have processed in soundforge or tracks,, etc, and previous to that you experienced a crash, you'll need to reboot the computer, start Scid and go right to the project with the large wav file w/o using any puggins or softsynths. Acid should be steady throughout your mix. Needless to say, make sure you consistently save just in case. |

Ableton has even said in their forums that they will not be working on a new version until the current one is stable. This forum mirrors Ableton's forum in so many ways. Many proclaim Live is dead. They want their 64 bit version as well. |
