Subject:Need help with soundcard

Yesterday my Acid program was working fine. Today, I have no sound.
It seems that my Gina Echo soundcard is not working.
I reinstalled the sound card and updated the driver, however I still can't get it working.
In "device manager" there is a small yellow exclamation point at the soundcard listed.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks... jt

Try completely uninstalling your soundcard driver first. Then install the most current driver for your soundcard. I'm assuming you have a pci soundcard.
Do a full restart and hopefully your system will detect the soundcard via the updated driver. If not take your soundcard out reinstall the card, fire it up and see if that helps.
In your control panel option (Windows hardware) you may need to make your soundcard the default soundcard if you have an internal card on your tower.
Hope that helps.

In Acid look under options/preferences/audio device - look for the drop down tab and select your device.

Thanks... I have tried these suggestions... under options/preferences/audio device... my soundcard is not even an option anymore.
In the past I have lost sound... went under options/preferences/audio device and reselected my soundcard, but this time.. it's just not there.
Uninstalled and reinstalled updated driver and it still is not recognized?
Any ideas are welcome... thanks!

Install the Gina PCI card in a different slot. If that doesn't provide a fix then you probably have a defective card, connector cable or breakout box but the latter is less likely. Also, you might have a problem with the PCI bus in your computer. Lots of components here that need systematic troubleshooting. You didn't mention whether your Gina is 3G or an older model. If older, I would suggest replacing it.

I admit - XP drives me nuts now.
If all of the above with your sound card does not work - there is always reformating your computer. I have had to do this a few times with a system that was originally vista and updated to windows 7.

Let us know how you make out, if not it might be time for a new card or a new tower! I have had the same situation you are having with your pci card only with an m-audio 2496.
