Hi there, Beatmapping is sweet for tracks like hip hop and breaks where they have a quite consistant flow but I have a lot of trouble when it comes to things like dub and funk where they have a bit more 'swag' as it were. Is there anyway to set the tempo from the first beat but allow the preroll intro to play at the same tempo? Also would anyone be able to point out some good tutorials/videos on beatmapping difficult tracks? Many thanks and much love, Kyle :-) |

That is brilliant Johnny!!! Clever enough to put a tail on it an call it a weasel :-) Would it be possible to apply the same technique in a track mixing (DJ production mix) situation? |

> "Would it be possible to apply the same technique in a track mixing (DJ production mix) situation?" No, because in the end you still have a song that doesn't have a steady tempo. What you have done is adjusted the project so that any loops you add will follow the tempo changes in the song. For track mixing like a DJ you would want the songs tempo to be steady. In that case you would use my other technique to adjust the varying tempo to a steady tempo. Try this tutorial: Using Sound Forge to Fix Tempo Drift ~jr |

Thank you JohnnyRoy....I have been wondering if this was possible given our live jams have no drums most of the time and this will make things so much easier. Cant wait to try it out ! |

I've used Acid Pro with Pre-made loops for several years (since V. 3)with excellant results. Using V.7 pro now. I've dabbled with beatmapper on and off, got frustrated and quit. My main goal is to do mash-ups to see if I could do anything as good as, or close to "War Toad" by Robby Keiger, Doors. Killer song btw. I tried your tempo matching and thought it was going to work. I put Harry Nillsson's "Jump Into The Fire" after tempo matching into the chooper with the intention of slicing and dicing to use a few select clips from that song and another to start with and see what I come up with. But when I chop the clip to a new track I get off tempo issues. That's something I never ran into with pre- made tracks. I Noticed that when I tempo matched the entire Nillsson song the tempo marker would change to, for instance, 145, 152, 138, etc. They would hover around 145 which seems to be the over all BPM for the song. But when I put my clip/loops into the new track they would speed and slow according to those markers which makes sense because they're in the same project. Am I doing something wrong with your tempo matching scheme. After tempo matching should all the tempo markers ve the same i.e. 145? |

Torq allows you to set the phrase grid for tracks that are "off". Then you can just record the song out of Torq and viola, a new track locked to a quantized grid. Now import into Beatmapper. |
