Subject:New signs that MAYBE ACID lives...

As a long time user of Sound Forge / Sony Professional software, I got an email today announcing this years SONY "Wildly Creative" event in Las Vegas on April 16th. They are promising "...exciting new product announcements about their professional line of multimedia production applications."

Since Vegas has recently been updated with the release of the incredible Pro 11, I'm thinking this MAY mean they will be announcing a new ACID Pro and Sound Forge...or maybe anew product of some kind.

If they do NOT announce updates to ACID, then I think that can be taken as the final nail in the coffin of the product. Personally, I have already written it off as dead, but I would love to be proven wrong.

Don't get too excited - probably a new video-centric product or update.

This is NAB which has always been solely focused on the Vegas line. Forge and especially ACID has never garnered a mention at this show - can;t see that happening this time.

I know that NAB has been focused on Vegas, but what could they be announcing about Vegas? They just came out with Pro 11 and finally "got around" the titler issue by including a third party plugin (New Blue) - and Vegas already does "almost everything". In fact the only outstanding feature I can think of right now that could use would be auto matching and sync of multiple audio/video files for multicam editing or syncing up DSLR footage which can sometimes be a pain.
What else can they be announcing about Vegas? Hardware integration? a partnership with another company? Production Assistant 3? :-)

Anyway, I thought maybe this might show signs of life on the ACID front, but it will probably just pan out to be an indication that it is truly dead.

JohnnyRoy and I gave a presentation on ACID Pro a few years back at NAB.

I was specifically meaning what Sony would promote at NAB as the major vendor rather than subject material given via user presentations.

Looks like the only new software products will be "DO Studio" and "BluePrint 6" Both are DVD/BlueRay/3D applications

"I was specifically meaning what Sony would promote at NAB as the major vendor rather than subject material given via user presentations.

Sony Creative was practically there en masse. There was even a promotional party (which I was late to; /sadface).

(If ACID Pro is dead/discontinued, why is it being promoted?)

So...let me get this straight. SONY was having a promotional party for their 4 year old DAW?

Back when ACID Pro 5 was released.

This was all back at NAB 2005. I should also note this was when Sony Creative Software wasn't even called that then; they were still part of Sony Pictures Digital if I recall.

They were called Sony Media Software immediately later and then finally to Sony Creative Software.
