I am turning in my old 400mhz processor based intel system for the newest AMD hardware, I just want to know if sonic foundry products will run on AMD hardware without any problems.. Hardware is expensive and I just want to be sure AMD's new hardware will work, I know previously the FPU on AMD processors was flawed, is this still the case?? thanks... |

I run Acid, Sound Forge and Vegas on an AMD Athlon 1.2ghz with 325 megs of ram with no problems at all. And ran the same three programs with an AMD 550, and still had no problems... So AMD was a safe bet for me. |

AMD had it's problems around the 133+ plus range till I dunno what mhz. I do know they were nipping on intel's heels around the 800 range. It's a gamble. |

I think you will have no problems with the new AMD's, especially the Athlons. I've run Acid, Sound Forge 4.5 and 5.0, CD Architect, Vegas Video, and Siren all on my 700mhz Athlon and have not had a problem. I cannot say the same thing for Pro Tools though, but what do you expect from a Mac based peace of software? |

I have an 850 Mhz Athlon T-Bird, and everything works great. I would definitely recommend AMD. You should also check with other hardware makers if they recommend AMD. I'm thinking about your sound card, video card, etc. For example, when I was looking at the Echo Mia sound card, I sent Echo a listing of my hardware and asked them if they thought there might be a potential conflict or if they recommended the install. They told me I had a great system and recommended the install of the Mia. I agree, hardware is expensive, so check with your other hardware manufacturers to ask about compatibilty. Hope this helps. Later. |

Hello, I try a AMD with all SF software and work well, but I have troubles with the Waves plugins V 3.0 (Don't work), the new 3.2 I believe that works on AMD. Bye |

I just got an AMD Athlon XP 1800 chip and everything runs great, including the waves plug in's that I have. It's so much faster than any pentium chip under twice the price you can't go wrong. |
