Subject:pencil tool limited actions/becomes in operative!

my pencil tool refuses to make more than 2 edits !

i use it a lot never had this problem......i was using it all day then suddenly, as i say, it became in -operative.
i can draw just one edit in a wave form. the tool still moves around but won't draw....very bizarre

after 2 correct operations it then just leaves a trace of my drawing but the line then disappears

please help!
