how do you acidize a loop? So far I have been just cutting to the point I like then saving them to Wavs. Is there a step I am missing before saving to Wav?

Check out Special on the menu bar. There's a few tools there for ACIDizing samples.

Typically, you'd adjust the tempo using Edit Tempo first (which is more or less a monitoring type of tool; it doesn't change the file in any way) and then use Edit ACID Properties to finalize it all.
