Subject:Recording Problems and Stuttering

Problem 1: Whenever I record when existing tracks are present, all the tracks seem to show up in my new [guitar/vocal/synth] track. It seems to me that playback and recording are happening on the same device or something. How do I fix this? I looked at the documentation for this --

"Applies To: ACID(all versions), Vegas(all versions)

Item #: 1111

Summary: When I record a new track, the rest of my project is also being recorded.

Solution:
Check the input settings on the sound card's software mixer to ensure that only the input you wish to record from is selected as the input device. Make sure that you do not have the sound card's wave output (often listed as "Wave" or "Wave Audio", on some cards "What U Hear" or "Mixed Output") selected as an input device.

This problem can also occur when you are recording from a microphone and it is picking up the output of the computer's speakers during recording. If this is the case, turn down the speaker volume or use headphones instead.

But it doesnt clear up much of anything. I am using Acid Pro3, my sound card is a Sound Blaster Audigy Ex.

Problem 2: When I go from, say, 12 tracks to 29 tracks at once, sometimes (not always) I get a stuttering problem. My hardware is sufficient (1.6Ghz/512Mb Ram/60 gigs HD/SB Audigy Ex). How do I fix this. There seems to be differing oppinions to the cause and the fix.

Thanks. Rock On.
