Does anyone know if an upgrade in your Graphics card can improve Acid performance ?I have a big project and Acid delays when I push play so I'm wondering if it's doing it because of all the tracts '58'.Also can a new and better sound card make that much more of a difference in the quality of the out put or is it more for game sounds and the motherboard FM synthesizer?Some guy told me that a better sound card will also make my MR8's output better too???

A pro-level audio interface will do wonders just in audio quality alone, especially where ASIO is concerned.

A better video card can help but you don't have to go top of the line either.

This may not be good advice. You may be causing him to spend money needlessly.

In order to provide a proper answer, one would have to know:

a) What is his current ACID performance?

b) What is his current Graphics system/card?

c) What driver version is installed?

Installing a new Graphics card won't improve ACID's performance, if his current GPU already meets the nominal standards required for optimal ACID performance.

Choosing a different video card could reap benefits, such as the fact that Sony's Vegas will encode videos faster using their AVC plug-in on an NVIDIA card. I should have noted that but whatever. xD

If you had carefully read my post, you would have noticed that I said it may not be good advice. Then, I listed some variables that could impact the decision, one way or the other. But of course, attacking the messenger is more important to you than actually reading the message. This IS about helping the OP.

The first step in Problem Solving is to obtain a clear and concise description of the Problem. That has not been accomplished.

Yes. You are absolutely right, if the subject was improving VEGAS's performance. (I recently spent a couple-o-hundred bucks on a new GPU in preparation of installing VEGAS Pro 11.)

As I read his original question, he was asking about improving ACID's performance. AND, as you probably didn't notice, my response was specifically directed towards THAT question (i.e. improving ACID's performance). This is the ACID forum.

But, I forgive you for your obvious oversite as Reading and Comprehension is not your strong suit.

lacobus I think I just have my cpu maxed out with all the tracts.I remembered you told me when rendering to not forget to remove all unused clips.well I read that after I rendered.Could that have anything to do with it stuttering and a delay start ?it really bites because i haven't even started trying to mix it.Thanks for responding and all the past help you have given me.Marc.

It looks like you have a fairly peppy system that should perform well with something like ACID Pro.

The only thing that looks like a bottleneck might be your video card (the ATI Radeon HD 3200 is an integrated video chipset, I believe).* But I don't know offhand how well this video chipset performs 2D-wise. Some cards are great at 3D gaming but a little lacking with 2D desktop applications.

I highly doubt that having so many unused clips might bog down your system as they're simply not playing anyway. (Still, it's good to do for neatness' sake.)

*Remember: Reading and comprehension is not my strong suit. Oh, there I go again! :D
