How were the avi's made? What codec? If you're not sure, download Mediainfo, open an avi file in it, switch the view mode to "text", and copy/paste the info here.

I am not sure about this, but I think you need a Canopus product such as EDIUS installed to be able to use the Canopus HQ codec.

... works in vegas pro 8...vegas movie studio 10...but not in vp11...but no you do not need an edius product installed, though i do...

Try re-installing the codec. Raylight and cineform AVIs were not working in Veg10 until I re-installed them.

So where would I (officially) download the Canopus HQ codec if I don't have EDIUS? Is it read-only or read-write from Vegas?

John Dennis kindly informed me offline that the Canopus playback codecs can be downloaded from [url=http://www.grassvalley.com/support/downloads] if you create an account.
