Hi
I have seen been with similar file problems but mine goes like this. I just upgraded to Acid 3.0c. I run Windows ME on a Dell Dimension 4100. However the last project that I was working on in Acid 3.0 will not open. the error message is at the bottom. Anyone familiar with this problem?

Kernel32 errors don't necessarily mean that the project is corrupted... really, it can mean a lot of things. Make sure you have the latest drivers for all of your cards, end task on all background tasks except Explorer and Systray and update to ACID 3.0c.

"Make sure you have the latest drivers for all of your cards"

What do you mean by this? How do I do this

"and update to ACID 3.0c."

Should I remove the acid 3.0 that I just installed and start all over from set up after I check the drivers?

Thanks a Million!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude...I'm there with ya. What I'm going to do to fix this is a pain though it should be worth it. I'm going to install a fresh version of 98se right over the exiting one, upgrade to directx8.0a,media 6,etc...Of course go to windows update first and get all of the patches. Then download the latest version from sonic foundrys upgrade page[acid3.0c+vegas video 2.0h,etc...].A point that was made to me by tech support also was going and upgrading my video cards drivers and sound card drivers. My video card is a piece of crap[nvidia tnt...came hardwired to the motherboard]. But my sound card rules,Echo layla 20 bit. To update them you just right click on my computer icon on the desktop, click properties,go the "device manager" tab,click...sound and videogame controllers, there should be your soundcard. The way that I update mine is to highlight the sound card and then press the "REMOVE" tab.Go out of this and windows will ask to restart your computer. Make sure that you have your updated drivers on a floppy disk. When the computer goes and restarts it will then look for the hardware and ask where to look for the drivers, put a check on the floppy tab and nothing else...Place the floppy with the drivers in the computer, wait a second...click ok...and then they should be installed. My video update was a program that installed by just clicking on it.I think that my problem is just that with all the time I spent on the computer just after a while screwes up the OS...It happens and you just have to reinstall it all again to make things right. I'll check back soon with some more stuff...hope that helps. Later.

DUDE!!!!!!!! I solved my problem.Hopefully this helps. I reinstalled windows 98se right over the old one[+directx8a,etc...]...reinstalled all of my programs...then what I did was to open up acid with the song file that was corrupted. Hit CTRL+A[highlights everything], then CTRL+C[copies everything]. Then minimize acid so that you can see your desktop. Go to the acid icon and click on it...this will open up another project with nothing in it.Click on the first measure on the screen[not really important where, just to show that THIS screen takes preference], Then CTRL+V[paste it all in this new song area+save to a different name to be safe...Of course an ACD-Project file with embedded audio...I wouldn't use the zip feature for a while, not that stable to me yet.The reoson I reinstalled everything was that when I tried this trick that Nate M. showed me was that it didn't paste it over...so I said to myself...self,there is something wrong with this OS and it needs to be reinstalled. So I did and now I can finish with mixing my tune!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Though definately send all of those error messages to tech support right away so that when they release the next update they will hopefully have it worked out by then. Later!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S....One or two of my files were unsaveable though they weren't that important though...thank god! They were audio tracks that I recorded into acid from my guitar-to my line 6 pod-to my sound card-and so on.

I hate to complain, but the same problem has just happened to me.

I had acid 3. build 189 installed, and had some problems that I thought might be fixed by upgrading to version 3c.

I can NO LONGER OPEN any acd or acd-zip files that I created with the earlier version of build 189.

However, I can still open files that came from earlier versions before acid 3 pro and from the content cd that I received for the first acid 3 pro release.

I would very much appreciate some suggestions. I'm thinking that I should reinstall my original acid 3 but I would like a response before I dig myself in any deeper.

Thanks,

Tede

I can't see how it could hurt anything...The only prob would be the fact that when you have to upgrade to acid 3.0c that your screwed again! Are you sure that somehow The version of 3.0c[downloaded???] is ok...Try deleting it from your harddrive and download it again and reinstall. How many files were you unsuccessfull at opening. If it were one or two then it could also be that something with the saved icon got corrupt. I mean the one that you click on that opens the song[acd-project/zip icons].If were many files then call tech support asap. Later.

I solved my problem with not being able to open a Acid Pro 3. build 189 file with 3.c.

I talked to Jon in Customer Service/TS and he told me to re-download the direct x 8 drivers from the Microsoft website and intall over the new AP 3c installation. (apparently the original directx 8 drivers are somehow corrupted by the new installation)

Worked like a charm :)

Hope this helps the rest of you like it did me. I thought these files were gone for good.
