Subject:Questions about installing Echo Mia Soundcard

I just got the Echo Mia Soundcard and I have a few questions about installing it and other stuff. So if anyone has it and can answer these questions I would greatly appreciate. Thanks in advance for any answers.

Can two sound cards reside on the same computer? Example on-board sound card(Yamaha chipset) and Echo Mia soundcard, can I select one or the other for use with programs such as Acid PRO?

Can I use the onboard sound card to drive my computer’s speaker system while using my Echo Mia audio input for recording onto music recording programs such as Acid PRO?

Can I output Echo Mia audio output directly or indirectly to my on-board soundcard mixer panel,

Can I use Echo Mia soundcard by itself for Acid PRO recording and take its audio output to drive my speaker system

Can I select different microphone inputs from my onboard soundcard and / or Echo Mia for use as a recording input for Acid PRO

If so what do I need to do?

Thanks
Son of Gary

I have a SB Live! and an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 residing in the same system with no problems. I've got the Audiophile just for ACID Pro and the SB Live! for other general Windows stuff. Note that I have 2 IRQ addresses exclusively assigned to each device.

You should also have at least 2 IRQ addresses free; one for your onboard audio and one for your Mia so that there are no resource conflicts (like Windows refusing to boot or your system locking up). The less devices you have in your system, the better off you will be.

As far as recording/playing back your material with you Mia, it should be possible. It all depends how you go about recording with the Mia in what application. You should certainly be able to select the Mia exclusively in ACID Pro (via the Options>Preferences>Audio tab on the menu bar).

You will not have to use your onboard sound's mixer to adjust the Mia, as the Mia should have its own mixer controls.

Get to know the Mia's mixer controls via the manual even if you're not the type of person who likes to read manuals; it should help you out quite a bunch.

HTH,
Iacobus

I have the Mia and a Turtle Beach Montego Quadzilla in the same computer, works great.
I can't help you as far as the install and technical aspect, I'm not a pro. I had mine installed by a very knowledgeable digital audio/midi retailer.
I use my Montego for games and as a midi interface.
I also recommend using your Mia for the microphone.
I also put a shortcut on my desktop for the "sound and multimedia" contol panel. That way it's just a couple clics away to switch from Mia to Montego.

Later.
