I'm trying to use the VSTs and plug ins from Ableton 8 lite in acid 7 and i'm not understanding what the manual is trying to explain. From what i'm reading you can use another interface(along with it's instruments and effects)as a slave.Any input would be great. It was when I read "instant acid"that gave me the idea, but I'm having trouble making heads or tails.Thanks.Marc |

VST plugins are unrelated to Rewire. To see you other application plugins, ensure their location is being scanned. View | Plugin Manager | Configure VST . Rewire is for synching two audio applications together as one. geoff Message last edited on2/3/2012 4:37:32 PM byGeoff_Wood. |

I don't think you can use Ableton's plugs in Acid, especially if they are proprietary to Ableton. VST's, even though they may be universal, if one vendor codes them for their s/w then that's it. Jack |

Live can be slaved as a ReWire device - at least older versions could. If Live is correctly installed and you have run it at least once then it should appear in ACID's list of available ReWire devices. Make sure that Live is NOT running when you start ACID. However, a ReWire device cannot process audio from ACID. ACID can receive audio from Live, but cannot send audio to it. That is how ReWire works. ACID can send MIDI to a ReWire device. What this means is that you cannot use any of Live's audio effects to process ACID's audio. ACID can also be used as a ReWire device, so you can connect ACID to Live. Then you can process the audio produced by ACID through whatever processing that Live permits. Peter |
