Subject:Different Consumer Sound Forges Available?

I'm curious about the differences between "Sony's" Screenblast Sound Forge Deluxe and "your" Sound Forge XP Studio 5.0. Can anyone explain? Ever since I sat next to one of your company's executives [curtis] on a plane a few months ago I've been noticing how sucky my roxio product is and I've been looking for alternatives, but I need some input.

Meanwhile, a Sonic Foundry help guy, DaveP, recently recommended Nero as CD burning software to an Acid user...instead of Sound Forge. Is there a reason why he would do this? Obviously, some burning software would be better than others, depending on exactly what you're using it for. But can anyone top line the different brands, and give general "best for..." recommendations?

Thanks.

You can goto Products>Software and read the differnces between XP and the full blown Sound Forge. One difference is the inability to use directX plugins in XP.

The reason for the recommendation to use Nero instead of Sound Forge, was because you don't have the Disk at once burning option in Sound Forge. Nero has the ability to burn audio DAO and edit track ID points, it also has the ability to do CDroms, and Video CD's. Basically put, Nero is a CDR software with more abilities in that area and Sound Forge is an audio editor with more abilities in that area, but both will do a little of each.

The help guy recommended Nero because SF no londer produces their own CD Architect, a real shame. But, yes, Nero is perhaps the best out there currently in production.
