What's a good way to get rid of some of the usual background hum or hiss from audio clips, while preserving the vocals? I'm pretty sure you can do some of it with EQ, but is there a good audio effect that I can throw on there and do it quickly? |

Which is it... hum or hiss? If it's hum, EQ might be enough. Use a notch filter with a real narrow bandwidth. Sometimes it helps to stack more than one instance of the same EQ. If the hum is really overbearing, you might want to add notches for the harmonics. For hiss, I'm always going straight for iZotope RX2. However, Sony Noise Reduction 2 will work, too.
