I am running Mucis Studio 7 on my conputer, and am using an Alesis Multimix 8 USB as the audio interface. I can record audio, but the levels are so much lower than the other recorded music I can barely hear it. I am maxing out the preamps on the board, but still the recorded levels are too low to be useful. With the USB codec being used there is no way I can adjust the record level from within Windows (it is shaded out). Any available advice to increase the microphone record levels would be appreciated.

Strange; you should be able to at least achieve unity. Trying to get the MultiMix's manual but Alesis wants me to sign up. (Riiight.) There should be some sort of setting you have to access that lets you set the USB output?

I have a DigiTech RP255 guitar effects processor that can act as a USB interface. By default, its USB output for recording is not hot at all (I'd say I was able to achieve maybe -15.0 dB max.) I have to (easily) access the setting that outputs the audio via USB and a get a much hotter signal that way.

I have the manual (I can email a copy if you like), but it says nothing about boosting the output. I'm assuming it is preset at unity. I just started using this setup, so I will continue to mess with it and see if there is something else I am missing. Thanks for your comments.
