What is the format of the media in your project? Does it happen for every project? Have you registered or purchased any SF plugins? Are you using any 3rd party plugins.
Thanks
Luke

just opening the program, fresh install. every time. no media yet, I'm concerned about even starting a project with that error message...no plug-ins being used.

I've got the same problem. Just curious, what OS are you using?

Still no idea?
I see Sonic Foundry now charges for phone tech support (ouch).
Anyone know this software?

Any help at all?????
SonyEPM wrote on 10/17/2001, 5:01 PM
I would uninstall VF2 and the re-install. It is possible something got messed up in the install process.
dongle69 wrote on 10/17/2001, 5:35 PM
been there done that....
This seems to be a common message. Any word from the developers?
pr0be wrote on 10/17/2001, 8:51 PM
Had the same problem untill I Defragged my drive. I guess all the eggs needed to be put in the right basket. Hope it helps.

I guess defrag is worth a shot. We haven't seen this error message before. Have you emailed system specs and all relevant details to SF tech support? That's free...
pr0be wrote on 10/17/2001, 10:51 PM
Just curious, but what "event" or "non-event" would trigger this error message. Thanks.
dongle69 wrote on 10/18/2001, 11:48 AM
I thought this was tech support? What details do you need other than what i have given?
Jdodge wrote on 10/18/2001, 1:44 PM
Nope. This is the user->user forum. If you have a specific technical request that needs attention ASAP, look up above, hold your cursor over 'support' and click on 'Email Support'. Then fill out your support request and it will come straight to Technical Support.

Hi,

I'll assume that you have already sent an email request to our Technical Support team, maybe over the weekend. It appears that Probe's problem has returned as well (http://www.sonicfoundry.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?MessageID=79618).

I'm communicating with him as I write this. No further information has surfaced in relation to this error.

Are you seeing any functionality problems with the application? Are you getting any issues that could be related to this error, like not being able to play certain media back, or getting poor renders?
dongle69 wrote on 10/22/2001, 6:23 PM
Yes, I have emailed tech support and I got a response asking more questions. I answered the questions last week and haven't heard back...
I don't know if any problems are caused because of this error. I'm configuring this machine for a customer and he will be asking me what this error message is and I'll have to tell him something...
Jdodge wrote on 10/23/2001, 10:38 AM
Hello All,

I've been working with Probe ( I don't think I've helped you out via email dongle69) and I have suggested he update his 4-in-1 drivers for his VIA chipset motherboard. If you have this same chipset, make sure you have done the same. You can find the site to do this from here: http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=2.
dongle69 wrote on 10/23/2001, 11:17 AM
Well, the Via 4 in 1 drivers would not be good for the Intel chipset that we are using. The system is finely tuned and up to date. I build DAWs for a living...

Nate Marx with Sonic Foundry tech support has stopped responding to my email. I'm taking this as a bad sign....
SonicNancy wrote on 10/25/2001, 7:23 AM
Hi Dongle,

Nate's on vacation this week. Please send your email correspondance directly to me and I'll make sure someone picks up where he left off with you as soon as possible. nancyw@sonicfoundry.com

Thanks,
Nancy

double bump. This is really revealing about Sonic Foundry!!!! They either don't give a rat's ass about solving this problem or they simply can't solve it and don't have the mojo to admit it.

Like so many businesses today: Big wheels and nothing under the hood!

Come on, tech support!!!!!
