ok I decided not to install SF5.0 on my Win98 system, so I installed it on my Win2K system. Now I've got another problem. When I open it and load a file or start editing a file it seems I can't do any others tasks. If I open a window it takes forever to load, sometime locking the system up for 1 minutes. Any ideas, system info below; -Abit KG7 w/AMD 1.4gz 512mb Ram (2x256) Win2K -Asus v7700 32mb vid card -Maxtor 13gb ata66 7200rpm HD on IDE1 - master -Cdrom IDE2 - master -Maxtor/Quantom Fireball ATA100 7200rpm IDE2 - slave -SB live - PCI slot 6 -Linksys network card - PCI slot 5 and all temps are well within range. Now the system seems fine, but looking at the log this has been an ongoing problem. |

Maybe you should try a system defrag. There's something that's taxing your processor, and it's odd that it's going to be Sound Forge. I have been telling a lot of people on this forum to go get some useful apps at www.analogx.com. You should get two things that might really help, the first of those things is CacheBooster and the second one of those things is MaxMem. There's also a slew of other programs, including a section on Audio... I suggest you check it out. Also are your drives NSTC or Fat32? That also could (and I am cautiously saying COULD) be a problem. I have Win2k and both my hard drives are NSTC formated and I don't seem to have any problems using Sound Forge, Acid, Vegas nor Siren. That could be another one of your problems. Could be a memory leak, which MaxMem would fix. Also I suggest you go download System Mechanic from www.iolo.com. With this program you could get rid of a lot of junk files that might be slowing down your computer. I hope everything I mentionned helps... Goodluck!!! |

No my system is clean and fresh (3 weeks old) AMD 1.4ghz w/512mb PC2100 ram. This SF5.0 just seems like a resource hog and I'm running Win2K. If I do anything while I'm edting a file everythings goes into slow-motion. Maybe the SF guys have some insight? |

I'm not having problems with SF XP5 under W2K. Both my OS partition and sound files partitions are FAT. Have you tried one or both Service Packs? |
