While I can't claim that I have ever seen that error, I will try to help you.

My best guess would be something was not installed right or got corrupted.

Let's get some more info, it might help other people troubleshoot your problem.

1) Did this problem start recently or has it existed for awhile? Did it start after you installed a piece of software?

2)It would help if you could post the specs of your computer including OS info and what version of DirectX you are using (FYI Should be DirectX 8 /w the Digital Video Update).

I've got your email request on this issue as well. If any users know what could cause this, feel free to post your solution. Tech Support's thoughts are as follows:

--Do you have a webcam or a TV card in this PC? What capture card are you using to bring your footage in from your external source to the PC? TV cards and webcams sometimes supply incomplete interfaces and those could be the culprit. VideoFactory may just be picking up one of these drivers, and not knowing what to do with it the program throws you this message. Are you able to capture video/edit/render video?

Once we get to the bottom of this issue we'll post the results here for everyone's benefit.

The problem started from day one. Installed, rebooted and I have gotten that message everytime I start VF. The program seems to work fine as far as I have tested it. Hopefully I'll have time to hammer it tommorrow to make sure.

System Specs:
98se
abit kt7a-raid MOBO
VIA kt133a/ 686b Chipset
2- 40gig Maxtor DiamondMax Plus HDD's (striped)
built in High-Point RAID controller
DX 8a w/ DV update
Adaptec AFW-4300 Firewire card

All drivers and BIOS are up to date.
Any info on a fix would be appreciated.

There's a 1.2 gig Athlon in that box too.

So defragging your drive was able to fix this problem?

That is good news. We were having trouble coming up with why this error might happen. I passed your email request around to other folks to see if someone had a suggestion, then I came back to you in search of other facts. Looks like you fixed it yourself.

Umm..... It's back. Started the program 3 or 4 times before it reappeared. Hhmmm?!?
