I'm not sure if it's time to reformat my drive but whenever I try to save a large song[or even a medium 10-20 tracks of sampled files] as a zip, I get distortion and crackles. I would have to open and reopen the file as well as the program itself to get a song to play without any problems. The best way around it is to delete the file...import it again...and redraw it. But to save it again as a zip just to have it come out crappy again is a pain. I also get alot of clicks and crackles when I move the plugin window around while a file is playing in the background. This also happens when I use any of these Sonic Foundry plugins in Cubase. My system is a HP Pavillion...600MHZ cpu...384ram...27 gig maxtor 5400rpm ata66 HD {OS}...40 gig Western digital 7200rpm ata100 [with ata100 adaptor pci card]{audio+video}...Win98se...Echo Layla 20bit sound card...all drivers are up to date...If any of you have had any of these symptoms before and solved them PLEASE HELP!!! I looked really bad when I did a latin song for a client and I forgot to check if it opened correctly and he got an ear full of CRAP!!!

I don't think that I need to reformat yet because cubase is running fine [for a change!], and I've had this problem for a while now, just not this extreme! I really think that this is some bug in 3.0c. Tech support also has wind of this...I'll keep you guys posted if things work out.
Also...When I have a looped region that is or isn't being used and I go from any tool[paint,erase,etc...] and go to the time selection tool it always highlights the looped region immediately. I don't remember that ever happening in any earlier versions...? Later.

When you say Zip, do you mean that you're using a Zip drive to store and playback...if that's the case, then wrong move. Zip drive storage as a source of playback is okay for small files, but not whole songs, keep in mind 'storage' is the keyword, your zip drive is not mean to be a replacment hard drive for anything except storing information.
My recommedation is to just create you a file in 'My Music' on your hard drive and add your songs as Mp3's to that folder instead of using your zip drive.
I do use my zip drive for most of my songs, but merely as a back up for files and wavs.
I hope I understood you correctly on this one.

Some of what you describe sounds like video issues. Try updating drivers and lowering hardware graphics acceleration. To do this, right-click on your desktop and choose Properties from the menu. Click the Settings tab -> Advanced button -> Troubleshooting tab and lower hardware graphics acceleration to none.

You mention saving as an ACID.zip. This isn't the only option you have for saving a project. You can save the project just as an .acd file, but choose to copy all media with the project (a checkbox in the Save as dialog).

I have done both [updated drivers+lowered graphics accelleration] and I am still having the same problem. To clarify again...It is when I save a song as a ACD-ZIP file that gets corrupted...or something is causing it to be incorrectly opened. That is when I get distortion in some of my audio. I will reopen the song and then save as acd song file with immbedded media and see if that helps though. Again I emailed tech support with my error dump file AND one of my ACD-ZIP files and they were ABLE to reproduce this at sonic foundry...So I'M NOT CRAZY...i think? Later.

Yes I just read Dave's tip on Acd-Zip on the main boards and realized that I didn't have a clue as to what I was talking about in regards to your question.
So please forgive my random act of stupidity...LOL
Jeeze, maybe I do need to get AP3, so I'll know what folks are talking about. Or just learn to keep my silly mouth shut every once in a while.....
Oh well I tried.

What tip was it? WHERE? I'm trying as we speak to just open the file, reimport the samples from the latin percussion cd[awesome!], and save it as a ACD-song whatever and click on embedded audio...hope that helps...I'll keep you guys posted.

P.S. I should be reinstalling windows 98se over this copy to have a fresh install of it...THAT could also be a slight problem too. I've used it for so long I guess it might just be time to do so. Later.
