10th anniversary forum members

John_Cline wrote on 1/20/2012, 4:59 PM
I just noticed that a few members are coming up on their 10th anniversary of joining the forum and at least one, John Meyer, is coming up on his 11th in just a couple of weeks. Grazie, Craftech, JJKizak, Musicvid, Muttley, myself and many others all joined the forum in 2002. Who else is coming up on their 10th?

(You can check your "join date" by clicking on your name.)

Let's not forget rraud -- joined in 2001, as did the venerable DSE. Also I think DaveT2 came over from Pinnacle about the same time as me. These guys have forgotten more about audio and video than I've learned.

One time early on I posted about an issue I was having, some tech dude from Sonic Foundry called me...stayed on the phone with me while he solved my issue

yep

you're still just a newbie ;)

I clicked past 10 years just before Christmas, and celebrated by writing off my Honda Prelude and was lucky to get off with just a broken collar bone.

Hopefully you fellas will find a gentler way of celebrating.

It's good to still be here - in every sense.

Glad you're still here Pete...

10.5 years for me next Friday.

IIRC, Feb 2 was when the Vegas Video Beta forum was opened for the members of the Vegas Beta team back in the day. I could be wrong...I was on a long-term visit to Madison at the time, as the video part of the Vegas family was being created. The SOFO forum itself has been around since around 2000, I think.

I am about 10.5 as well.

Moi 02/02/2001, but have 'known' SonyPCH a few years longer than that thru Multisound (Turtle Beach) days.

'Video' participation not the whole time though, more just the last few years.

Well, if some of you old guys have some pull with Sony I would like to see a feature I have found very handy of another forum I belong, which is a daily synopsis sent as an email, a very nice automated time saving feature.

I also like the feature of being able to subscribe to a particular thread, or to a particular author, relevant to my interests, the forum sending an email when new posts are made to it. That way as I get old (but again, not like you old guys) I don't have to remember what it was I was interested in.

We have these features on the American Airlines pilots forum, and they are very popular, used very often.

Maybe you old guys can put in a good word. (joking about being old. We're all getting there, hopefully)

Apparently, this forum was launched on 2/2/2001 at 4:10:39 PM. Everyone that was part of the previous Sonic Foundry forum was rolled into this one and has a join date of 2/2/2001.

It'll be 12 years for me in November.

"Well, if some of you old guys have some pull with Sony"

Ha! Just because we're as old as some of the guys in Madison, what makes you think we have any "pull" with them? They are an independent breed.
Perfect example: they use proprietary forum software instead of phpBB like almost everyone else.
Chienworks wrote on 1/20/2012, 10:30 PM
And i'm sooooo glad of that. phpBB is terribly annoying. This forum is so much better than phpBB.

Here's easy at least a 100 years of Vegas experience for our perusal. Thanks!

It seems I'll have been here 10 years in March! Wow, you'd think by now I'd be humming along smoothly... slow learner I suppose!
DavidMcKnight wrote on 1/20/2012, 11:25 PM
A little under nine years for me. Can we celebrate again next year??

I've only been a member since Vegas 6 but I want to take this opportunity to say a very real and sincere 'thank you' to all you long serving members for your readiness to help at any time. Your contributions have been invaluable and have take many of us a good way along a learning curve that can sometimes seem very steep. You have been most generous and it really is appreciated.

Thank You.
