I am having this problem recording into acid 2.0. After I have arranged the loops then proceed to record an outside music source( keyboard, vocals, drums) I have problems with my entire song having a processed flange like effect on it. I have tried everything and can't seem to get it out. Help!!!! |

I am using an IBM 450mhz with the sound blaster live drive "platinum". I am running most of the instruments thru the 1/4 input jack on the front of the live drive. Thanxs |

Flanging usually is an indication that your drivers need to be updated. Install the latest drivers from the Creative Labs website and that should fix the problem. Ted |

Another thing to try would be to hit the record button and then deselect make new track follow project tempo and then record. Once you have your track in Acid click on the track name so that it is highlighted and then go to the properties tab. The track type will probably be disk based which is fine for recordings that you make in Acid. You then wan to click the stretch from tempo box and tell Acid what the tempo of the original recording is. In this instance if you are playing along with Acid it woudl be the Acid project tempo. Then click on the save button (floppy disk icon) to save the changes that you have made to the file. Try and play the file back. It should sound OK. Also this is assuming that you are using Acid 2. |

I am still having the problem!!!Argghhh!!! I did update my driver as well as click on the properties of the track to follow the project tempo, noted it as disc based, streched it, and saved with no avail. The only thing I am unclear of in your directions Dave was how do you "deselect" when you hit the record button? Do you mean cancel? Any other ideas or did I set up the track wrong. Couldn't you just enter some music in then erase it so you have an empty track to work with? Frustrated with technology, Steve |

Sorry that my last post was not clear. When you hit record then deselect the Make new track follow project tempo option. This is key. Another thing to try would be to turn the diskbased track into a one shot. Also if you play the track outside of Acid in the Windows Media player do you hear the flanging problem? |

Ted, I did everything you told me and it made sense this time. When I play the recorded track in the track properties mode it sounds fine. When I play it in the regular mode it still has that flange effect everytime the recorded loop comes around. Any last suggestions? Thanks, Steve |

I've had good results eliminating wierd tones from sync errors (i.e. flange sounds) by not using "disk based" but instead using "one-shot". Disk based plays the track from your hard drive and the software has to sync it accordingly. One-shot loads the track into ram and plays it from there, it uses less processing this way, as long as you have enough ram (128 min) |
