Subject:recordings distorted after upload to server

Suddenly undistorted recordings that I trim on Sound Forge are distorted when I save as a new file. A friend reports same problem now happening out of the blue. How can I fix this?

Since there are no recent SF updates, I would suspect a user settings or third-party encoding issue.

Uploading to what server?
From and to what file format and settings?
What do you mean by "Trim" .. Edit> Trim/Crop? That process by itself would not cause distortion.
