Vegas Pro and monitor resolution

Salamander wrote on 1/8/2012, 5:45 PM
I just upgraded from a 20.1" to a 24" monitor. I set it at the native resolution, which results in tiny fonts. So I set the DPI at 150%. This combination works in all my applications except Vegas Pro. Some of the Vegas work area has extra large fonts, while other parts (particularly the menus) are extremely small. In addition, the menu acoss the top (file, etc.) is partly obscured by the work area.

Has anyone else run into this? Is there a solution that does NOT involve running at a non-native resolution combined with a smaller DPI?

Try turning off Windows theme support in the Internal properties tab.

Where do I find the internal properties tab?

On the Options Menu

Hold the shift key and select Preferences

The Internal Tab will appear in the tabs on the next screen

There is a search box to help you find the parameter you wish to change. Type theme

@Salamander: what is your monitors native resolution?

1920 X 1200

Which answer was yours? One of them I tried, but can't do.

Thought you might have one of the 2560 x something - which can be difficult (at best) if they are smaller than some 30 inches.

Here I'm having 2 1920x1200 Eizo's (24 and 27") and there are absolutely no problems running Windows at 100%.

Some time ago I also tried the Windows 125/150% but as many programs then became weird looking I went back to 100% but adjusted the text size under Control panel + Appearance and Personalization + Display + Set Custom text size (DPI)

That's exactly where I made the change. Instead of picking Set Custom Size (DPI), I picked the larger (150%) setting.

It didn't work. I found the capatibiltiy tab, but the settings portion is grayed out and I can't make any changes.

I'm not sure what made me think of this, or check - but I checked the "Set custom text size (DPI)" custom DPI settings and discovered the checkbox next to "Use Windows XP Style DPI Scaling". I checked that box, re-booted, and now the Vegas Pro interface is perfect. The fonts are all the same size, and the menu bar on the top is completely visible!
