Hi, I have recently reformatted my computer and gone back to xp for daw use. Now, in the explorer window only some of my samples will play a preview, and others make no sound at all. This happens with mp3s and wavs, 24 and 16 bit, one shot, loop, beatmapped... ie appears to be completely random as to which files play and which don't. Manually clicking play media still does not trigger playback of the files that don't preview. Loading the files in to the acid project works fine, as does selecting play with media player form the explorer window. I did not have this issue at all with vista, but am not about to go back to that for the simple fact that I now have my asio buffer size tweaked down to a good level with xp. Does anyone have any advice as to how to fix this? Thank you.

No-one seen or heard of this issue?

The only auto preview bug I've had was one where the samples would play but they wouldn't play right (like static sounds); that was ages ago though and haven't had problems since. Think it turned out to be a video driver issue. (Used an ATI card then.)

Wish I could be of more help. :(

Thank you for the reply. I don't think it's a driver issue as I have tried a couple of different ones for both my video and sound cards. They are also both fairly old and the drivers ought to be quite mature for xp. If I find a solution I will post it here in case anyone else experiences the same problem.
