Capture card and file output help

Hi y'all, this is my first post here. I've been doing audio for 20 odd (really odd :) ) years and have been asked by a client to do their 15 min. 3 song video demo. I've decided to buy VV as I'm very familiar with the SF audio software family. I understand the basics of capturing the DV (from a 3 camera shoot)and flying in the audio. Could some of you experienced users recommend a dv capture card for my DELL 4100 1.0ghz that works well with VV and what is the proper export format for my rendered file. Should I rerecord it to one of the DV cameras for transfer to VHS or BETA later or..how do I want my finished project to end up for the most professional use. (sorry for the long post)Thanks in advance for any replies

I'll let other users suggest specific cards if they wish, but any OHCI compliant IEEE 1394 card should do fine. When you're rendering a file to print back to tape, you'll want to use the NTSC DV template (available in the Render As... dialog box). My guess is that it would be best to print to tape using your DV cam, then record onto a VHS or beta using the DV cam.

Also another option would be to get a converter box that will plug into the firewire card and has composite outputs for analogue decks. In this way you could bypass recording the whole thing to your camera and instead just go directly to the deck through the converter box via firewire. Here is one model of converter box that come to mind Sony DMACDV2.
