For some reason, the record button within Sound Forge is disabled on the recording pop-up window. This results in not be able to record anything. I am not sure why this is happening. My interface is an RME Fireface 800, and Sound Forge is configured to use ASIO. I changed it to direct sound, but the record button continues to be disabled. Any ideas why this would be happening? Thanks. |

I have a work-around for this Sound Forge issue for now. In my rack, I have a solid state recorder that I'm recording audio onto an SD card. After this is done, I can load the wav file in Sound Forge for editing. This is extra work and really should not be needed though. I'm running 64-bit Windows 7 Professional, and I have just downloaded and installed the latest drivers for my Fireface 800. I still cannot record using Sound Forge though. Sound Forge has no way of repairing its installation that I see. I tried re-downloading the 10c install, but it refuses to run stating it is already installed. At this time, I do not wish to uninstall the software, because Sony's software can be a PITA as far as re-installs. |

Cleanest way to do it is here: http://www.custcenter.com/cgi-bin/sonypictures.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=4844&p_created=1259016132&p_sid=PLrAjG6k&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MzYsMzYmcF9wcm9kcz0wJnBfY2F0cz0mcF9wd |

I assume you have selected the Fireface in "Options> Preference> Audio/Record> Recording device routing" Otherwise uninstall/reinstall should be relativity painless. If you decide to go that route, without manually digging into the registry, you could use a third-party uninstaller, which will make a back-up, should you make a mistake. My favorite is the Revo Uninstaller. (free version) http://download.cnet.com/Revo-Uninstaller/3000-2096_4-10687648.html |

Yes. Fireface is set for both recording and playback. I am currently using ASIO, which works best for my Fireface. I will try uninstalling now to see what happens. |

All I know is that I had to jump through hoops to get my licensed software to function after an install last time I tried. I dread going through any of this again. |

I just did an uninstall via Add/Remove programs followed by a reinstall using the newly downloaded installer direct from the Sony website. The problem is still here. The record button is disabled. This is the only button that is disabled. I am able to Arm, and I see the level meters show audio data. I simply cannot record. I will play around with the firewire drivers in Windows. Perhaps I have to use the legacy driver or something. Message last edited on1/1/2012 10:36:09 AM byJamil. |

I configured Windows 7 to use the legacy firewire drivers following these instructions: http://www.rme-audio.de/forum/viewtopic.php?id=9827 This did not change the record button in Sound Forge being disabled. Sound Forge 10 has issues recording. Vegas records audio through my Fireface with no issue at all. I will try posting on the RME forums to see if anyone has ideas. |

I did this one more time, and now it is working! I did a full uninstall of both Sound Forge 10 and CD Architect 5.2. After this, I had to delete the following registry entries including all keys below: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Creative Software\Sound Forge Pro HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Sony Creative Software\Sound Forge Pro There was one more folder in the registry I had to delete that I do not recall now. It was another Sound Forge Pro folder. After doing this and rerunning the Sound Forge install, it now works as it should. I never use CD Architect, so I never reinstalled it.
