Hi to all of you who might be able to help me. I thought I was reasonably computer savvy but ACID Music Studio 8 has seen me reach the limit. I even resorted to printing off the manual and still cannot work it out. My questions are pretty simple, how do you even get a sound out of it? The best I have done is the metronome! In the manual there is a picture of the 'explorer' box with all sorts of guitar sounds, but I cannot find these at all. I can find some files e.g. Korg, Roland etc but when I click to open or even to sample the sound I just get an 'incompatible' message. I have also bought an Alesis QX49 to muck about with, the software has found it, but again how do I get it to function. All I want to do is play some sounds and record them, then I can start to muck about but at the moment I cannot even get out of the blocks! Thanks in advance. Regards Old Git |

Ignore the questions, I am making leaps and bounds now. I've managed to find the loops and songs so that's good. I've even managed to get the midi keyboard to play different sounds - fanstastic. But......I cannot hear myself record nor hear any playback. What have I got switched off or on? Thanks OG |

Your audio interface (soundcard) should handle any monitoring and playback. Make sure it's properly selected and routed under Options > Preferences > Audio Device. Digital audio and MIDI are two different animals. Digital audio is pure audio; what you hear is essentially what you get/hear/record. MIDI is a set of instructions on how a sound plays. MIDI is typically routed to a soft synth (VSTi) to get the sounds you hear. An example of this is the included piano synth that comes with Music Studio 8. Iacobus |
