I'm new to this forum and not sure how to check responses. My probme is garbled sound when I record. Also I have a new Pre Amp installed tonight and while it's VU meter displays just fine when I play back output from a pre-recorded program I can't get anythign to to show up in the meter when I try to record. If I run my fingers over the mic I get a reaction on the meter but when I try to record voice there is nothing. What's my probme? |

Apart from being a bit stressed and getting yor words all muddled ;-) , do you need phantom power for your mic, and is t turned on ? Is your 'preamp' a free-standing analogue audio device, or are you referring to a computer audio interface (USB/Firewire, etc) incorporating a mic preamp ? If so, it could be that you haven't installed an ASIO driver for it, or don't have it selected in Acid preferences. geoff |

Hello Geoff and thanks for responding. My Pre-Amp is an ART TPS 11 machine and it is free standing. I also have EMU ASIO as my sound car on my computer. I discovered what my problem with 'garbling' was. For some reason, the EMU sound is periodically replaced by MS SOUND MAPPER and that's when the garbled tracks appear. As long as it stays in EMU the sound is clear. But now I have a new problem. My voice tracks are all coming out with a 'bassey' hollow sound. I've fooled with the gain and levels and the pot on my Mackie but it's stillt there. Any ideas on that would be appreciated. Thak you Ken Ford |
