Define "bloat" in the context of a Blu-ray player.

If by "bloat" you mean the player giving the user internet access to Netflix, Vudu, Hulu, Amazon, etc..... then these are considered valuable features to most buyers and most manufacturer's are scrambling to add more of these features. I don't know why you would consider these features "bloat" though .... they can easily be ignored and they don't decrease the performance of the Blu-ray player.

By 'bloat" I mean anything the addition to the Blu-ray player. In my case I have no need for streaming links ie Netflix... on a computer used for video editing.

I think a little clarification is needed. Are you referring to:

a) A set-top player
b) A PC Blu-Ray drive
c) Blu-Ray player software for your PC

From your last post it seems you might be asking about option c.

If you want to go the other way, and get a player that does the "bloat" really well, but leaves off that somewhat archaic and clumsy optical disc player, I can recommend the Roku... ;-)

Don't buy a Blu-Ray player or DVD player ever again. Buy yourself a media player.

I bought a Mede8er which is cheaper than a BD player and plays everything I throw at it.

@LightAds

Will it play a sequence of .m2ts files without appreciable gap between them? My Dune HD Base 3 waits a second or two between each clip.
