I'm getting the following messages on startup. The 'Windows Classic Wave Driver' audio device 'Speakers (2-USB Audio Codec)' is missing or in use by another application. Hit Cancel and then The default 'Microsoft Sound Mapper' device will be used until you restart Sound Forge Audio Studio or select a different device int he Audio page of the Preferences dialog. Everything seems to be working fine after that. Any suggestions? Thanks. |

I recently had to re-install SF 10 Pro on a new Windows 7 machine. Make sure you're using the drivers bundled with your interface. Based on another post you started, I'm assuming we're still talking about the Alesis Multimix? What I'm assuming happens is if any other processes on your computer have a sound output, Windows locks the driver to that application. So, any media player, web browser, etc will lock up the driver for playback. You then can't use this driver for Sound Forge too. This is why I would avoid using the WCW driver if you can. It gives me those errors but I can still playback on SF. That is what is strange. |
