First Project Done Entirely in V11 Complete

G'day,

I finally took the plunge and undertook a paying project entirely in V11. The project is 30 mins long, mixes two HDV streams with one 1080p stream, has titles, effects, cc and seven audio tracks.

Timeline preview was excellent and the final product, when rendered to MP4, 720 25p, took 13 minutes to render. During this entire project I did not experience a single glitch or crash. V11 gets a big tick from me.

Cheers

Russ

Fuss, that'll be your System #2 specifications yes?

Gainward Golden Sample GTX460, and that's another nVidia card. I can't even image how I'd compare that to my own nVidia.

Good to hear its working for you.

Russ, what MB are you using? I didn't see that in your system specs. Also, where did you source the Gainward Golden Sample GTX460?

I've done several dozen paying gigs in Vegas v11-64bit without a single problem. Mostly AVCHD from my NX5 and Cineform, but some HDV and client-supplied DNxHD files.

I find it remarkable that it seems to be remarkable that someone can get a job out the door with a new release without a problem. The implication if that isn't possible is that the product was never tested and released with so many bugs as to be useless to anyone. I sincerely doubt SCS would be so reckless.

You never see Apple release a new version of NLE with stripped down functions and software bugs now do you?? (lol)
And you never see Microsoft release a OS with security holes and bugs from day one either... Shame on you SCS!!!

thats a joke by the way, but seriously, it doesnt matter how large or apparently experienced the company is (MS, Apple, Sony.. ) they make mistakes. The trick is to handle the situation professionaly and work the problem. That includes keeping customers happy :)

That’s Good news guys. I just got my disc Pro 11 from my supplier 2 seconds ago.

SCS gets a big thumbs up from me, providing an honest service while the politicians and banks are getting bailout’s. Bank bailouts …that’s insane like giving Viagra to a sex offender.

I bought the upgrade but am not installing it until after my "busy" season next spring. In the meantime, I'm learning FCPX on a borrowed MacBook Pro. Always have a back out plan, I sez.

"it doesnt matter how large or apparently experienced the company is (MS, Apple, Sony.. ) they make mistakes"

I wouldn't call them mistakes, it's just part of the normal process of developing very complex systems, especially when it's under a financial constraint. M$ have way bigger budgets than SCS and Apple have an easier task than most as the range of hardware is constrained.

That said the general quality of software testing these days by the smaller vendors does seem to be in decline. That may in part at least be due to financial pressures, software testing is very expensive and it's hard to justify to the CFO and marketing people.

@Grazie Yes, system number two. Now also overclocked to 4.5GHz. I have established that the liquid cooling keeps my CPU within my self-imposed temperature range at this clock speed.

@jmpatrick I got the Gainward graphics card through an Australian supplier http://www.skycomp.com.au Mobo is an ASUS P8P68 EVO.

@farss Bob, I guess it is a bit remarkable for someone to post about a "success" with a version of a software package. I guess the primary reason for posting was as a response to a general feeling of negativity that I was picking up from the threads on this forum. I just felt that publishing a "success" story might help to counterbalance that negativity a bit.

Cheers

You are not alone experiencing great results with VP 11. I produce 4 or 5 YouTube videos per week and have no problems with two exceptions:

1- Once in a while, I shut down VP 11 and I get a message seconds later that it has crashed.
2- NewBlueFX Titler Pro crashes VP once in a while.

Those are the only difficulties I have experienced.
