I wonder which software Acid users are using to burn CD's in general?

My old EasyCD 3.5 doesn't run under W2K and I'm trying to decide what to get. I don't have CD Architect so I guess I'm limited to Roxio and Nero.

Any input welcomed. Thanks.

Nero Burning Rom is a great program for burning CD's and it's cheap (about 35 bucks).

why don't you go to the roxio website and download the update patch for EasyCD Creator. They have versions 4-and up. Now, I don't know what versions support w2k, though..

Dave,

I had downloaded the Nero Demo a few days before Sept.11 and the 30days ran out while I was otherwise busy. There was a learning curve that I didn't have enough time for then. $35? Where?

Synthman,

The version I have will not allow W2K to even boot. No fix for it, I've tried.

Well, I got the latest ver. of Nero (5551).
My CDRW (Yamaha 6416S) is supported, has latest firmware, burned a cd but with totally dreadful quality (no error messages.)

I tried copying an existing commercial cd as a test and the sound on the copy seemed like Nero extracted the tracks as analog with much hum and very weak audio.

Nero's 'helptool' and other support yielded nothing.

Any one have a suggestion?

I'm curious about the differences between "Sony's" Screenblast Sound Forge Deluxe and "your" Sound Forge XP Studio 5.0. Can anyone explain? Ever since I sat next to one of your company's executives [curtis] on a plane a few months ago I've been noticing how sucky my roxio product is and I've been looking for alternatives, but I need some input.
Meanwhile, DaveP, why didn't you recommend Sound Forge itself to the originator of this question, instead of Nero? Why would you do that? Hmm?
Thanks.

Well it's been a week since I emailed NERO tech support with a lengthy list of things I tried and no response from them.

Guess I'll have to fight the retailer about returning it.
