Burning LOTS of 480p vid files on a Blu Ray Disc

Probably a dumb question, since Blu Rays carry so much more space, what if I were to burn dozens of 30 minute videos that were only 480p quality and not 1080p? These kind of vids I don't care about having HD picture viewing, I just want to be able to store lots of standard vids onto one disc.

It's something I'd like to make for a friend, he wouldn't care about HD.

Did you just want to store video files, or did you want them to be playable in a Blu-ray player, with appropriate menu selection? In order for them to play they must comply with the Blu-ray standard, and 480p is not covered. 480i and 720p are, however. I am not sure what the limit on the number of titles on a Blu-ray is, but it is much more than for a DVD. It may be 999.

And, of course, this disc will NOT play in a DVD player -- even though you've got the BluRay disc filled with DVD video.

I knwo blu ray's wont play on DVD players. But I'm wanting to play this kind of blu ray on a blu ray player. It's all lots and lots of tv shows put together.

However I talked with a Sony person today, and he said that it's likely a burned blu ray with standard DVD 480 content won't play properly. Is that 100% true? I'm baffeled by that.

Standard 480i NTSC video should play but 480p won't.

Get yourself a BD-RE (rewritable) disc and experiment for yourself.
