What they're referring to is a relatively simple bit of music theory. In a time signature, the top number represents how many beats are in a measure, while the bottom number represents what kind of note gets one beat. So, in the case of 4/4, there are 4 beats to a measure, and a quarter note gets one beat. If a quarter note gets one beat in that signature, that means it would take 4 quarter notes to equal (or fill out) one full measure on a staff. (Did I confuse you yet?) :) Remember your fractions? They help out a lot here in the case of what kind of note gets one beat. Other typical time signatures are 6/8 (6 beats; eighth note gets one beat) and 12/8. HTH, Iacobus |

Thanks alot for clearing it up. Kudos! But I really meant I will let CHAOS reign supreme until I seriously want to learn musical theory and add order and math to compositions |
