Subject:Problems converting wav's

I'm having a strange problem when converting from wav to mp3's and also had the same problem when making changes to an existing mp3 that was saved as another mp3.

I have converted a few different files from wav to mp3 and edited the other I spoke of, I listen to the results in sound forge, it sounds great.

THen when I listen to the created files in wmp or real player, there is audible distortion in the files.

IF I open the file in sound forge, it's perfect, I open the edited files in anything else, I get bad distortion. Tried on two different sound cards, to the card is not the problem.

All I can tell you is that Winamp did not use very good algorhythms in their older versions. I don't think either Winamp or Real mp3 capability are based on the original Fraunhouer codec. Sound Forge is.
