annoying click when mastering to cdrw unit -Sound Forge - PC

This computer is being used as my central nerve for recording and mastering purposes. When mastering down to the CDRW I ocassionaly get an annoying, loud click at the end of the track being mastered. I should say that the noise is not present in the original(unmastered track). I should also say that the noise is not present when I master down to an external 8X USB HPCDRW i also use. Has anyone encountered this problem before, and if so how can it be dealt with?

Some soundcards, particularly cheaper consumer-type cards add DC to the incoming signal. The point on a wave where the current crosses from positive to negative is called the zero-crossing. If you gave a file, or segment of a file that is edited or does not match the other half it may produce an electrical click or pop. Also, in a nutshell, there are 75 frames per second in a CD. If the frame isn't an exact number the burning software must fill in the difference with zeros which may be audiable. You should work 75 frames with snapping turned on to help avoid ths.

You stated that you didn't have a glich in your original wave, so you can disregard any b.s. about DC offset being present, because the gliche due to this would also be in your original wave before you transfer to CD. It's true CD's have 75 frames/second and that may or may not mean that zeros are added to complete a frame. Adding zeros will not cause a glich though....adding zero's adds silence. Also, seeing that you don't get gliches on your other burner, means that it is most likely not related to the wave file. You may be experiencing gliches because you may need to upgrade your firmware on your CDR. Goto your CDR manufacturers website and see if there is a firmware upgrade for your model and read the details you might have a conflict with your version of windows and the current firmware on your CDR, which they have a fix for. Also goto Control Panel-System-Device Manager-CD rom and right click on your 16x burner and select Properties-Settings and make sure Disconnect is checked, Sync data transfer is unchecked and also auto insert notification is unchecked. Now the problem that you're probably really having is that you're burning at 16X. This might be too fast for your system, try to burn at a slower speed and see if you still get the same problem with gliches.
