Where is this drop down option in previous versions? With v5.2 build 124 (ie original version), there are options to make a DVD with several SD formats or Blu-ray with several SD and HD formats in MPEG2 or AVC. No mention of Blu-ray on DVD. If I select Blu-ray, author my disc and then click on Make Blu-ray Disc, the Select Burn Parameters window tells me that I have a DVD inserted. I don't have to select anything, it just burns to a DVD.

I don't think SCS has ever listed burning Blu-ray to DVD as a feature (correct me if I am wrong), so withdrawal of this ability can't strictly be called a bug. It is withdrawal of an unsupported feature. My guess is that they did this because such discs would not work in many Blu-ray players, and rather than answer complaints from customers or fix the problem, they just pulled the plug.

What happens if you go to the File menu, open Properties, set your Media to DVD and your Format to BluRay?

Peter,

Here is my project properties dialog box in version 5.0b (build 180):

It's called BD9 and BD5:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc#BD9_and_BD5

and also AVCHD:

I think build 180 is DVDA Studio, is it not? Build 133, the subject of this thread, is DVDA Pro.

With build 124 of DVDA Pro 5.2, in Project Properties you can set Disc Format to Blu-ray and Disc Size to 4.7 GB, but in build 133, the only disc size options are 25 and 50 GB.

That's what OP complained about.

OK, thanks. I never had to set the properties page because it was always set automatically for me.

My main point was that I don't think the omission is a bug but rather a deliberate act. SCS did the same thing with smart (-ish) rendering of AVCHD in Vegas Pro after 9.0c, which I also assume was deliberate, for much the same reason.

Agree, it was done deliberately.

I just got a reply from my support ticket on this. It was deliberate. They say because it does not meet industry standards.

I don't care, it is incredibly useful for testing short clips on $0.15 media, not $2 media.

If Build 124 has no problems then use it. Alternatively use BD-RE discs for testing.
